QJAAAHL ST-LOUIS-LALIME ALL-STAR TEAM WON THE 2013 CENTRAL CANADA CUP

TERREBONNE (December 29, 2013) – QJAAAHL St-Louis-Lalime All-Star team won tonight in Terrebonne the 2013 Central Canada Cup with a 4-2 victory over South West Ontario Junior A Hockey League All-Stars (OJHL SW). For QJAAAHL representatives, it was their 2nd championship in the history of this tournament which was in its third edition.
In the first period, the QJAAAHL St-Louis-Lalime All-Stars scored two fast goals to take a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes of play. Jonathan Delorme opened the scoring at 4 :46 before seeing Janick Asselin gave a two-goal lead to its team at 5:58. In the second period OJHL SW cut the lead to one goal twice, but in each occasion the St-Louis-Lalime replied. Kevin Shier and John Carpino scored for OJHL SW while the reply from St-Louis-Lalime came from Anthony Nellis and Janick Asselin who scored its 2nd goal of the game on a power-play at 18:53 to seal the victory.
«It is a great honor for QJAAAHL to win for the second time this tournament», were the first comments of the President of the QJAAAHL, Richard Morency. «I congratulate all the players and the entire coaching staff, Robert Dubuc, Mario Roy and the General Manager Patrick Black, for their excellent work.» «We can be proud of our young hockey players not only for this second championship in the history of this event, but also to have so well represented our league at the canadian level». «I also want to congratulate our representatives of the Perron-Burrows team as well as their hockey personnel, Gianni Cantini, Joël Charbonneau, Rick Lalonde, Jocelyn Aumont and their General Manager Bill Hattem, which also performed very well throughout the tournamenet», concluded the President of the QJAAAHL.
Overall for the tournament, QJAAAHL St-Louis-Lalime team suffered only one (1) loss in five (5) games. Friday December 27, the troopers of Head Coach Robert Dubuc successively won 4-1 against representatives of NOJHL and 8-2 against the stars of OJHL NE. The next day, they recorded a 4-2 victory over CCHL team before suffering their first loss of the tournament when they dropped a 3-2 decision against OJHL SW. Sunday December 29, they won 9-2 against QJAAAHL Perron-Burrows team before winning the final game 4-2 against OJHL SW.
On the level of individual statistics, QJAAAHL representatives dominated the list with eight (8) players among the ten (10) best scorers. Benjamin Lagarde led the scoring list with a record of 6 goals, 5 assists and 11 points in six (6) games while Janick Asselin (3-7-10) and Jean-Michel Busque (4-5-9), respectively finished 2nd and 3rd. St-Louis-Lalime goaltender Pierre-Alexandre Vinette also did well. He won in each of its tart including the final game where he allowed 8 goals in 4 games for a 2:00 goals against average.
